Nigeria's Super Eagles

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are back in action today as they face off against arch-rivals Ghana in the much-anticipated 2025 Unity Cup clash.

Often referred to as the “Jollof Derby,” this historic rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana has produced intense drama over the years.

Both nations have met 56 times in various competitions, with Ghana holding the upper hand with 25 wins. Nigeria has claimed victory 13 times, while 18 encounters have ended in stalemates.

The Unity Cup returns after a 21-year hiatus, designed to foster unity and celebrate the rich football and cultural connections among African and Caribbean communities, particularly those in the United Kingdom.

The tournament also features Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago, with the former defeating the latter 3–2 on Tuesday to book a place in the final. The winner between Nigeria and Ghana will face Jamaica in the final match.

The Unity Cup was first held in 2004 and saw Nigeria emerge champions, beating the Republic of Ireland 3–0 in their opening game and Jamaica 2–0 in the second.
