8 travellers killed, others injured as IED explosion rocks Borno

An explosive device has claimed the lives of an undisclosed number of travellers moving between Kala-Balge and Gamboru-Ngala Local Government Areas in Borno State.
News360 Nigeria reports that the tragedy occurred on Monday when a vehicle departing from Rann, the administrative headquarters of Kala-Balge, hit an improvised explosive device (IED) while en route to Gamboru-Ngala.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, revealed to News360 Nigeria that efforts are currently underway to gather comprehensive details regarding the attack.
“I am aware that it happened. Please, I will get back to you. I am still gathering necessary information,” he said.
However, local sources claim that eight people died in the explosion, while many others sustained critical injuries.
A local source, who pleaded not to be named, said, “Women and children were involved. About eight people died.”
