Lt. Col. Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf, the aide-de-camp (ADC) to President Bola Tinubu, has been crowned the new king of Ilemona, the Oyun local government area’s headquarters in Kwara State.

The appointment was confirmed by a well-known community leader who asked to remain anonymous, despite the kingmakers not disclosing their decision.

According to the source, the process of appointing the President’s ADC as the town’s new traditional ruler has begun.

As the ruler of Ilemona Town, Yusuf is expected to use his experience to lead the community and promote growth and harmony.

Here’s what to know about Lt. Col Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf.

  1. The late monarch Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi, the Elemona of Ilemona, is the father of Lt.Col. Yusuf.
  2. Yusuf enrolled in the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna in 2000 after earning his Ordinary National Diploma in Computer Science from Offa Polytechnic. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical-Electronics).
  3. He was a student at the United Kingdom’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) from 2004 to 2005.
  4. He received training in security and intelligence-related topics in 2006 at the Nigerian Army Intelligence School in Lagos, following the training policies and directives of the Nigerian Army.
  5. He gained military expertise in the use of various weapon systems used in infantry units and special operations by attending the Young Officers Course Infantry, NASI, another course in Kaduna in 2007.
  6. Yusuf improved his skills as a military officer in 2008 by completing the courses for security investigations and tactical intelligence officers.
  7. The multilingual officer, who speaks Yoruba, Hausa, English, and French fluently, underwent military training in Mali, Pakistan, China, Israel, and the UK between 2009 and 2018.
  8. The courses offered are the Military Intelligence Basic Officers Course in Mali, the Junior Staff Course in China, the Officers Advanced Intelligence Course offered by SMI in Pakistan, and the Advanced Command and Staff Course offered by Shrivenham UK.
  9. In 2018, Yusuf completed his military training and earned a postgraduate diploma in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the National Open University (NOUN) and a master’s degree in Defense Studies from Kings College, London.
