Afro-soul sensation Boypee, born Sopuru Precious, recently reflected on how featuring Davido on the remix of his hit song “Ogechi” has significantly boosted his career.
In a chat with Showtime, the Imo State-born artist described this collaboration as a key milestone in his musical journey, enhancing his status in the industry.
Boypee shared that it was Cubana Chief Priest, the popular Nigerian socialite, who introduced him to Davido.

His musical journey began in 2010 during his high school years, where he started as a dancer and vocalist. From the onset, it was clear that music was his true passion.
Reflecting on his early days, Boypee said, “I knew I was going to sing someday. I played songs often and always told myself that I would create my own sound.”
Boypee’s transition from dance to music was seamless, and by 2015, he embarked on a professional career. His early experiences laid the groundwork for his unique style, characterized by an immersive blend of African soul and contemporary beats.
In 2019, Boypee began sharing exclusive freestyles and covers on Instagram, quickly garnering a dedicated following. His fanbase, known as “Chokowurld,” has grown exponentially, showcasing his ability to captivate and engage audiences through social media.
