On Wednesday, Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned Portuguese footballer and five-time Ballon d’Or winner, shared a video on his Instagram featuring Asake’s hit track, ‘Active,’ from the artist’s new album, Lungu Boy.

The post quickly went viral, amassing 18.7 million views, 1.2 million likes, and over 20,000 comments within just four hours.

This is Ronaldo’s second foray into the Afrobeats scene; he previously posted a charming video of his three children dancing to Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ in March 2023.

As the most followed person on Instagram with 639 million followers, Ronaldo’s endorsement has significantly boosted the visibility of Asake’s music.

In addition to the Instagram post, Ronaldo used the viral Asake song to promote his latest YouTube content, which has garnered over 313,000 views and 90,000 likes within just three hours of its release.

Ronaldo’s YouTube channel, which provides insight into his personal and family life as well as interviews with renowned personalities, continues to rise since he posted his first video on August 21.

He also made history when his account reached one million subscribers in just 90 minutes, the fastest channel to ever achieve this feat. The footballer also smashed the record for hitting the 10 million subscriber mark in less than 24 hours.
