The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is working to address its internal conflicts as its Board of Trustees (BoT) meets with the party’s National Assembly caucus in a closed-door session.

Held at the PDP’s Legacy House office in Abuja, the meeting comes as the party grapples with unrest following the 2023 elections.

Internal disputes have intensified, particularly with criticism directed at Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum for not implementing significant reforms.

Tensions increased further after Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, publicly criticized Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara and the PDP Governors Forum over leadership issues.

The PDP BoT, chaired by Adolphus Nwabara and Secretary Senator Ahmed Makarfi, had previously met with Wike and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed to discuss the party’s challenges.

The current meeting with National Assembly members, including Senate Deputy Minority Leader Lere Oyewumi and House of Representatives Minority Whip Hon. Ali Isa JC, aims to gather insights and propose solutions to realign the party’s direction.

The outcome of these deliberations is awaited, with expectations of recommendations to address the party’s ongoing issues.
