EPL: Spurs comes from behind to beat Brentford 3-1
Tottenham Hotspur showed resilience to come from behind and secure a 3-1 victory over Brentford after a shaky start.
Spurs fans may have been anxious when Bryan Mbeumo scored for Brentford in just the first 25 seconds, marking the second time in a row Brentford has taken an early lead, only to falter later in the match.
Spurs’ Response:
Despite the early setback, Spurs responded with intensity and quickly began to dominate possession. Brentford’s sloppy play allowed Tottenham several chances, and they pounced on errors.
Dominic Solanke took advantage of a poor pass from Ethan Pinnock to level the score, and Brennan Johnson was a constant threat on the wing, finally putting Spurs in front after going close twice.
Son Heung-min also had a chance to extend the lead but hesitated when clear on goal, allowing Brentford to recover.
Even though the second half saw fewer chances, Spurs remained in control, with James Maddison sealing the win in the latter stages.
After back-to-back losses to Newcastle and Arsenal, this result lifts Tottenham’s spirits.
Brentford’s Self-Inflicted Wounds:
Brentford manager Thomas Frank will be frustrated, as the team contributed to its own downfall.
Both of Tottenham’s first-half goals came from Brentford giving the ball away unnecessarily.
The Bees were more competitive after halftime and created a few chances, but their earlier mistakes had already put them on the back foot.
A possible handball by Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario was a talking point, but it ultimately didn’t change the game’s outcome.
Brentford now faces the challenge of addressing these errors after suffering a third league defeat of the season.
