Man faces mob action after killing son, nursing mother in Delta

In a horrific incident in Evwreni Community, Delta State, a man named Samson was beaten to death and set on fire by an enraged mob after he brutally killed his son and a nursing mother, Princess, while injuring another individual under inexplicable circumstances.

The shocking event unfolded around 2 a.m., when Samson, who had reportedly been exhibiting strange behavior, smashed his son to death. As sympathizers gathered, he also attacked and killed Princess, a nursing mother, and injured an unidentified man.

According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, Samson had been acting erratically prior to the incident and was supposed to be taken to a medical center for treatment.

However, before this could happen, the tragedy occurred. Following the killings, the furious mob took matters into their own hands, administering jungle justice by beating him to death and setting his body ablaze.

This tragic episode underscores the dangers of mob justice and highlights the importance of mental health awareness and intervention.

According to him, “He smashed his toddler son, then machete a woman who took her son out to toilet to death, and injured the youths in process of trying to apprehend him, he injured more persons.

“After the incident, he was finally apprehended, beaten to a stupor and his remains were set ablaze with his motorcycle.”

Though the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright could not respond to his call at press time, but a senior security source, who confirmed the incident, said: “Before our men could get to the scene, the suspect has been set ablaze.”
