Former Senate Leader Jonathan Zwingina passes away at 70
Jonathan Zwingina, a former Senate Majority Leader and prominent political figure, has reportedly passed away at the age of 70.
Zwingina, who also served as the Director-General of MKO Abiola’s campaign in the historic June 12, 1993 presidential election, died on Wednesday, October 2, in Abuja, after a prolonged illness.
Though his family has not yet made an official announcement, reports from Leadership Newspaper confirm the passing of the Adamawa State-born politician.
Zwingina was a former senator representing Adamawa South Senatorial District and was instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zwingina later switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during his political career. His death marks the end of a significant chapter in Nigerian politics.
