A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has issued a public summons requiring former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to appear in court on October 24.

The summons is related to a fresh 16-count charge filed against him.

Justice Maryanne Anenih issued the summons on Thursday in response to an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC sought the summons after claiming it was unable to serve Bello with the charges, which were filed on September 24.

The former governor, along with two other defendants Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu is facing charges of criminal breach of trust involving N110.4 billion.

Bello’s failure to appear in court earlier stalled his arraignment, which had been scheduled for Thursday.

Justice Anenih ordered the EFCC to publish the public summons in a widely circulated newspaper and to post copies at Bello’s last known address, as well as in visible locations around the court premises.
