Premier League: Maresca appoints Caicedo as Chelsea’s new captain
Chelsea Football Club’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, has selected midfielder Moses Caicedo as the new captain of the team.
This announcement was shared on Sunday via a post from football insider Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter).
Caicedo expressed his gratitude toward Maresca for entrusting him with the leadership role, acknowledging the coach’s confidence in his abilities to lead the squad.
“I’m grateful to Maresca for making me Chelsea’s captain.
“I want to become a legend here, and that’s what I’m working hard to achieve every day.
“It means a lot to captain Chelsea. It’s a dream come true
because I grew up supporting Chelsea,” he said.
Chelsea is set to battle Nottingham Forest on Sunday in the 2024/2025 season.
It should be recalled that Moises Caicedo signed an eight-year deal with Chelsea in a £100m transfer from Brighton, with an additional £15m in performance-related add-ons, after turning down a £111m move to Liverpool.
