Gov Fubara swears in new LG Chairmen as APP sweeps polls

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially sworn in the newly elected council chairmen of the 23 local government areas.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Sunday at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt, shortly after the chairmen were issued their certificates of return by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) Chairman, Adolphus Enebeli.

This development follows an election held on Saturday under tense conditions, where the Action Peoples Party (APP) secured 22 of the 23 chairmanship positions, with the Action Alliance (AA) clinching one.
