Heavy security as Plateau LG election holds Today
There is a noticeable increase in security personnel across Plateau State as elections take place in the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
According to a report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), officers from the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the military have been strategically deployed at key locations and polling units to ensure a peaceful voting process.
The Plateau Police Command had earlier announced a restriction on movement throughout the state to facilitate the smooth conduct of the elections.
Mr. Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed that sufficient security personnel had been deployed across all LGAs to ensure the safety of voters and the proper conduct of the elections.
”We have made adequate arrangements towards ensuring that the election is peaceful.
”We have deployed our officers and men to all the 17 LGAs and some flashpoints within the metropolis.
” So far everywhere is peaceful, and we hope that Plateau residents will cooperate with the security agencies towards a violent-free poll,” Alabo said.
