Hardship: I can’t afford diesel again, says Amaechi

Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has expressed frustration over Nigerians’ lack of action in response to the country’s current economic hardships.

In an interview with Igbere TV, Amaechi voiced his displeasure, particularly with the youth, for failing to protest the rising cost of living and widespread economic difficulties.

The former Rivers State governor emphasized that he expected youths to take to the streets to demand better conditions, but their apparent indifference has left him dismayed.

“People should be angry because you cannot see a group of people stealing your money without doing anything. I am really angry with the citizens because they are not doing anything,” Amaechi said.

He also referenced the political atmosphere in Edo State, suggesting that politicians should not even be campaigning given the country’s situation.

Amaechi noted that even those in privileged positions are feeling the pinch, as the cost of essential commodities, like diesel, has skyrocketed.

Amaechi, who served as the Minister of Transportation for nearly eight years under the Buhari administration, concluded by calling on Nigerians to take a stand and push back against the worsening economic conditions.

His remarks have stirred public debate, as many are reflecting on the state of the nation’s economy and the role of leadership.
