The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed deep concern over the troubling and unacceptable experiences faced by the Nigerian National Football Team, the Super Eagles, at a Libyan airport.

According to reports, the team was stranded and faced multiple challenges upon their arrival for the AFCON 2025 Qualifier second leg match against Libya.

CAF issued a statement emphasizing that the treatment of the Super Eagles is being taken very seriously and does not align with the standards expected during international tournaments.

The organization condemned the situation, promising to investigate the incident and ensure it does not recur.

The Super Eagles, who had departed for Libya following their 1-0 victory in Uyo, experienced unexpected delays and a diversion to Al Abraq, hours away from their intended destination in Benghazi.

CAF’s firm stance highlights the importance of fair treatment and proper logistics for teams participating in continental competitions, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport in Africa.
