EFCC raid Enugu radio station, disrupts live broadcast
The management of Urban 94.5FM, a radio station based in Enugu, has raised concerns following an incident where operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly invaded a live broadcast on Monday, October 14.
According to the station’s statement, the disruption occurred around 5:45 PM, during which EFCC agents allegedly forcefully abducted presenters and confiscated communication equipment. The radio station condemned the action, highlighting the implications for press freedom and the right to conduct live broadcasts without intimidation.
“Whilst we are following up with the matter, we will continue to inform our dear listeners accordingly through this medium.
“Once again we apologize for the unethical break-in into our live studio and the disruption of your favorite programs and hope that the matter will be resolved as soon as possible and for whatever the reasons”, the statement reads.
Meanwhile, when News360 Nigeria’s correspondent contacted the spokesperson of EFCC, Dele Oyedele on Tuesday morning, he had yet to reply to a text message as of the time of filing this report.
