Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has paid an emotional tribute to his father, 27 years after his death.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Seun expressed how Fela’s influence on their lives has only grown since his passing in 1997.

Seun highlighted the lasting impact Fela had not just on their family, but also on music and activism around the world, emphasizing his enduring legacy.

He wrote, “Every year since you passed to the great beyond, your impact on our lives has continued to grow. Every note, every phrase, every dance, every song and every album is to show my love for you. “I miss you! I play my sax for you dad, I live for your legacy and I am loyal to the mission. Love you big man more than words can express.” Seun was 14 years old when he became the lead singer of Egypt 80. The band had sustained the infectious groove of Afrobeat worldwide under the direction of his late father.
