Manchester City edged past Wolves with a dramatic 2-1 victory on Sunday, courtesy of John Stones’ last-gasp header that was given after a VAR review.

The win sent City to the top of the Premier League, overtaking Liverpool by two points.

Wolves took a surprising early lead through Jorgen Strand Larsen’s close-range strike, putting Pep Guardiola’s side on the back foot. City equalized before halftime with a stunning curling effort from Josko Gvardiol.

In stoppage time, Stones rose to head in the winner, but Wolves protested the goal, claiming offside interference by Bernardo Silva on keeper Jose Sa. After a lengthy review, referee Chris Kavanagh allowed the goal, sparking celebrations among the City players and coaching staff.

City extended their unbeaten Premier League run to 31 matches, setting a new club record. Despite a below-par performance from Erling Haaland, City maintained their title charge with their sixth win of the season. Wolves remain bottom of the table after a valiant effort.
