Cole Palmer’s seventh goal of the season secured Chelsea a 2-1 victory over Newcastle, continuing the Blues’ strong Premier League form.

Palmer found the net early in the second half, his powerful strike from just inside the box beating Nick Pope at the near post, solidifying Chelsea’s edge after Nicolas Jackson’s opener.

The match kicked off with Chelsea taking an 18th-minute lead as Jackson converted Pedro Neto’s assist following a sublime setup from Palmer.

However, Newcastle quickly responded, with Alexander Isak equalizing just 14 minutes later.

Isak nearly put Newcastle ahead near the end after roundingRobert Sanchez, only to be denied by Chelsea’s defense.

In a tense closing moment, Chelsea appeared to earn a late penalty when Christopher Nkunku went down in the box. Initially awarded, the decision was reversed by VAR, which ruled Nkunku slipped.

Palmer’s goal ultimately sealed Chelsea’s three points, lifting them to fourth place in the table.

They could slip to fifth should Arsenal secure a point against Liverpool, but Chelsea’s strong form under Enzo Maresca is unmistakable, with five wins from nine matches.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s struggles continue, as they sit 12th and remain winless in their last five league games
