Local security operatives in Lagos apprehended a cemetery worker and two accomplices on Sunday with five human skulls in the Agege area.

The suspects were captured near Murikaz Cemetery and taken to the Isokoko Police Station, where the police confirmed the incident and committed to tracking down other suspects involved.

An anonymous police officer indicated that the case would be escalated to the State Investigation Department for a thorough probe. Witness Mr. Isiaka Amosu disclosed that the suspects had allegedly been collaborating with a cemetery attendant named Ismaila to obtain body parts for illegal purposes. The police assured the community that efforts are ongoing to secure Agege by apprehending all involved in such criminal activities.

“The suspects were apprehended by local security operatives in the community who noticed a suspicious bag placed on a fence at the back of the cemetery.

“They were curious about the bag and decided to see who might retrieve it. After a few minutes, they observed two men who came to pick up the bag,” he said.

Amosu said the security operatives, alongside some residents, confronted the suspects and asked them to open the bag.

“Initially, the suspects claimed the bag only contained leaves, but upon further insistence, they opened it, and found another bag containing five severed human heads inside.

“The suspects admitted to receiving assistance from the cemetery worker, who allegedly conspired with them for financial gain,” he said.

The eye witness added that the same cemetery worker was caught with a human head about six months ago by the police and had to leave the area for some time. (NAN)
