Thirty-nine children from Kaduna State, previously detained by the Federal Government, were joyfully reunited with their families on Wednesday in a ceremony at Kaduna’s “Children’s Homes.”

In a show of support, each child received N100,000 and an Itel A18s smartphone from the state government to aid their transition back into society.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, Secretary to the State Government, pledged to assist the children in their rehabilitation, promising opportunities for skills training, employment, and start-up capital based on their educational backgrounds. “The Governor instructed us to collect credentials from those who completed tertiary education, with plans to offer them suitable empowerment options,” Meyere stated.

To ensure accountability and a smooth reintegration, the government recorded each child’s contact details and will monitor their progress, extending additional benefits based on their behavior.

Upon their release, each child underwent a medical checkup and received counseling from both Christian and Islamic leaders on personal growth and positive societal contribution. Meyere noted that the smartphones were provided to replace those lost during detention, and the cash grant served as a gesture of goodwill from Governor Sani, aimed at helping them restart their lives.

This initiative marks an effort to give the children a fresh start while providing them with the tools and support necessary for a promising future.
