Edo Queens produced a thrilling comeback to defeat defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in their final Group B match at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, securing a spot in the tournament’s semi-finals.

Despite falling behind to a 28th-minute strike from Melinda Kgadiete, Edo Queens remained resilient. Chioma Olise missed a crucial penalty in the 54th minute, leaving the Nigerian side trailing for much of the game. However, in a stunning late surge, Emem Essien equalized five minutes into stoppage time. Moments later, substitute Mary Mamudu netted the decisive goal, clinching a dramatic victory.

The win places Edo Queens at the top of Group B with seven points from three matches. Egypt’s FC Masar secured second place with a 2-1 win over Ethiopia’s Commercial Bank FC, while Mamelodi Sundowns and CBE FC have been eliminated from the competition.
