The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has suspended its National Executive Council (NEC) Chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman (SAN), following his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and remarks about the 2027 presidential elections.

The decision was reached during the ACF’s NEC meeting held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the group’s headquarters in Kaduna.

In a statement jointly signed by ACF Board of Trustees Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu (Wazirin Dutse), and Secretary General, Alhaji Murtala Aliyu (Matawallen Gombe), the organization clarified its position on Osuman’s comments.

The statement noted that Osuman was quoted as expressing the North’s preference for a northern candidate in the upcoming 2027 elections. His remarks were reportedly made without prior consultation with the ACF leadership, sparking concerns within the group.

Osuman had also criticized the policies of the Bola Tinubu administration, further fueling controversy.

“The statements were made by the NEC Chairman without consulting or discussing with other leaders and members of the ACF and thus, reflected Mr. Osuman’s personal opinion only.

“ACF rejects Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman’s statements in their entirety. For this reason, the leadership of the ACF’s Board of Trustees (BOT) and that of its NEC has decided to place Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman on suspension with immediate effect,” they stated.

The Forum said a committee has been constituted for further investigations.
