Tension engulfed Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State following a series of brutal attacks by armed bandits that reportedly left at least eight people dead, many injured, and an undisclosed number abducted between Friday and Saturday.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the bandits stormed the area in multiple raids, using pickup trucks to transport their captives to undisclosed hideouts.

“Earlier this morning, they drove off one truck full of people, and now they’ve driven off another,” a local resident disclosed. Fleeing villagers were also reportedly attacked, with several losing their lives in the process.

The attacks targeted multiple communities, forcing residents to abandon their homes and seek refuge in nearby forests. A source attributed the violence to a notorious bandit leader known as Bambara of Gidan Gamji, whose influence reportedly extends to areas such as Powa, Jeka, and Masalawa.

Efforts to reach the Katsina State Police Command for confirmation and further details were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
