The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) successfully rescued residents from a fire outbreak that engulfed the 11th floor of the Ultimate Apartment in Ikoyi.
In a statement, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that the agency responded to a distress call received at 10:16 PM on Friday.
Details regarding the cause of the fire and the number of affected individuals are yet to be disclosed.
However, the swift intervention of emergency responders helped avert a potential tragedy.
The agency assured the public of its commitment to rapid response in emergencies and urged residents to remain vigilant and report incidents promptly.
Further investigations into the incident are underway.
“Following distress calls received through the 767 and 112 toll-free emergency lines at 22.16 hrs, LASEMA activated its response teams from Lekki, Onipan, and the Command and Control Centre, Alausa.
“On arrival at the incident scene, LASEMA discovered that an eleven-storey building, “The Ultimate Apartments,” was engulfed in fire.
“Further investigations revealed that the fire originated from a room on the 11th floor, but the immediate cause could not be ascertained,” he said.
He said while the response teams were preventing the fire from spreading to other apartments within the building, the occupants were also enlightened on the dangers of smoke during fire incidents.
