Bandits kill two in Kaduna, loot properties
Suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on Idu village in Kufana District, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two residents and looting properties.
The assault occurred on Wednesday around 8:30 pm, claiming the lives of Mr. Sadiku Saleh and Mr. Aliyu Kabiru, both members of the local community.
A letter obtained by Daily Trust, written by Mr. Stephen Maikori, the overseer of Kufana District confirmed the tragic incident.
Addressed to the traditional ruler of Angwan Kufana on Thursday, the letter detailed the events of the attack.
“I write to report to you that on Wednesday, 8/1/2025, at around 8:30 pm, armed bandits attacked Idu village and killed two persons—Mr. Sadiku Saleh and Mr. Aliyu Kabiru.
“It is worrisome that other villages in the community, such as Randa, Makaranta, Sabongida and Libere, have been deserted due to incessant attacks by bandits,” he said.
In addition to the killings, the bandits reportedly raided shops and homes, carting away provisions, foodstuffs, and other valuable items.
He further appealed for intensified security intervention to protect the lives and properties of villagers, adding that the incident had been reported to security agencies.
The state Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached for comments as calls to his phone failed to connect.
