Nigerian rapper Olamide has reached a remarkable milestone, becoming the first African rapper to surpass 1 billion career streams on Spotify.

In addition to this streaming milestone, Olamide made history last year as the first African rapper to earn a Grammy nomination, solidifying his legacy as a trailblazer in the global music scene.

His collaborative hit with Asake, ‘Amapiano’ was nominated in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category but lost to Tyla’s ‘Water.’

This achievement underscores Olamide’s global appeal, driven by his unique fusion of Afrobeats and rap, as well as his numerous high-profile collaborations.

Olamide’s success highlights the growing influence of African artists on the global stage and their ability to break barriers in the music industry.
