Gov Alex Otti fires Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko
The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has fired Kazie Uko, his chief press secretary.
The commissioner of information, Okey Kanu revealed this to the media on Wednesday after the State Executive Council meeting chaired by the governor.
Kalu Ukoha Kalu will now assume the role of Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
Last June, Governor Otti ordered the immediate suspension of all Permanent Secretaries in the state’s civil service, as well as the Head of Service.
The move came on the heels of the inauguration of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry, tasked with recovering state government properties and funds. According to a press release issued by Kazie Uko, the then-Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Lady Joy Maduka, Director of the Ministry of Education, had been appointed as the Acting Head of Service (HOS), effective immediately.
Uko also instructed that all Permanent Secretaries, excluding John Pedro Iroakazi, the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, and the Solicitor General, Mrs. U.G. Uche Ikonne, were required to transfer their responsibilities to the highest-ranking Director within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, effective immediately.
