Toto residents sends serious security message to Tinubu
Residents of Toto Local Government Area in Nasarawa State have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to place security at the forefront of his agenda for 2025.
Speaking in separate interviews with journalists on Friday in Toto, the residents emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures to address the persistent challenges facing their community and the nation.
They expressed concerns over issues such as banditry, communal clashes, and other security threats that have disrupted their daily lives and economic activities.
The residents urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts in safeguarding lives and property to foster peace and development across the region.
Mr. Yahaya Idris, a resident, praised the president for achievements in 2024 but emphasized the need for enhanced security measures to ensure the safe movement of people and goods across the country.
“I am calling for better security because it is very essential to peace-building and development,” Idris said.
“With adequate security, more people will feel safe to travel around, and more goods and services will reach local and distant communities across the country. This will reduce the stress of people leaving their communities to access certain goods and services.”
Another resident, Mallam Ahmed Mustapha, expressed gratitude for witnessing the New Year and stressed the importance of prioritizing security in 2025. He noted that improved security could boost tourism and attract foreign visitors, thereby increasing foreign exchange inflow.
“There are so many wonderful places in Nigeria that can earn the country huge revenue through tourism, but we must ensure adequate security to attract foreign tourists. When you cannot guarantee your own security, you can’t welcome a visitor to your domain. However, when you create a peaceful environment and put in place adequate security, visitors will want to come,” Mustapha stated.
Alhaji Mohammed Usman, a politician from Toto, highlighted the role of security in addressing food insecurity by encouraging people to return to farming. He also urged President Tinubu to consider reducing fuel prices to ease the financial burden on Nigerians.
“I hope the President will tackle these issues because our prayer is for 2025 to be better than 2024,” Usman said.
The residents collectively expressed hope that the government would address these concerns to foster national development.
