Boko Haram terrorist kill over 40 farmers in Borno, many others missing
At least 40 farmers were reportedly killed on Sunday in a gruesome attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Kayakura village, Doron Baga ward, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attack, which occurred around 4:30 pm, also left dozens of farmers missing, raising fears of further casualties.
The assault comes just a day after two people were killed and a church was set ablaze in Chibok, another part of the state.
According to local sources, the terrorists invaded the farming community in large numbers, opening fire indiscriminately.
One resident shared, “As we speak, many people are missing, and they killed more than 40 farmers, predominantly those who had escaped earlier attacks in Gwoza Local Government Area.”
However, a security source in the area provided a slightly lower casualty figure, stating, “Thirty people lost their lives during the attack on the farmers in the Doron Baga ward.”
Efforts to confirm details from the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso, were unsuccessful as his phone line was unreachable at the time of this report.
