Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended one Fatimah Odeale for allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old boy, Olasunkanmi Oluwadamilare, by inflicting razor blade cuts on him.

The incident reportedly stemmed from accusations that the boy had stolen N600.

This was disclosed by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Monday.

According to Odutola, the case was brought to the attention of the police by a delegation from the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Obada Oko, Abeokuta, led by their Coordinator, Moses Olagbegi.

She explained that the delegation came to the station with Oluwadamilare, a student at Dinamis Private School, Araromi area of Obada Oko, who had a serious cut on his hand.

”When questioned, the boy revealed that his guardian, Odeale from the Housing Estate area of Obada Oko had caused his injuries”.

”When arrested, she admitted to using a razor blade to inflict the wounds as punishment for stealing N600 to buy ice cream for his friends,” Odutola said.

The police spokesperson explained that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, had ordered an immediate investigation into the case, describing it as child abuse.
