Two arraigned over cell phone theft in Ogun
Two men, Abdullateef Olasunkanmi, 18, and Sunday Morice, 28, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing a cell phone valued at N120,000.
The defendants, whose addresses were not disclosed, face charges including stealing, assault, malicious damage, and breach of peace.
According to the Prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, the alleged offences occurred on June 12 at about 1:15 a.m. in the Arobieye area of Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that Olasunkanmi and Morice conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by assaulting a driver, Zinsu Joseph.
He said that the defendants physically attacked Joseph, damaged his vehicle, and stole his cell phone valued N120,000.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 249(D), 335, 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,00 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Fadairo said that the sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and gainfully employed, should also present evidences of tax payment to Ogun Government.
She adjourned the matter until Feb.10, for further hearing.
