Ronaldo to sign new deal with Al Nassr, set to retain status as highest-paid footballer
Cristiano Ronaldo, the former Manchester United star, is reportedly close to finalizing a lucrative new contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, reportedly worth an impressive €3.8 million per week.
Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United in 2021 began with a remarkable first season, during which he netted 24 goals.
However, his second spell at the club became increasingly turbulent, with growing tensions, especially with manager Erik ten Hag.
The situation escalated in November 2022 when Ronaldo’s controversial interview with Piers Morgan resulted in a public critique of the club, its ownership, and his manager.
Following the fallout, Ronaldo and Manchester United mutually agreed to part ways.
Shortly after, the Portuguese legend inked a lucrative deal with Al Nassr, becoming one of the highest-paid players in the world.
Now, reports from Saudi media outlet Al Khabar (via AS) suggest that the 39-year-old forward, who turns 40 in February, is set to extend his contract with Al Nassr by one more season.
The new deal is said to be worth €200 million, with Ronaldo earning an eye-watering €3.8 million weekly.
His earnings include €200 million in base salary and an additional €60 million from image rights, ensuring he remains the highest-paid footballer globally.
Ronaldo’s performances since joining Al Nassr have been nothing short of remarkable. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has netted 75 goals in 84 appearances, bringing his career tally to an extraordinary 917 goals. The extension could bring him tantalizingly close to his goal of reaching 1,000 career strikes.
The deal, which will reportedly run until June 2026, aligns perfectly with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a tournament that could mark Ronaldo’s final bow on the international stage.
