Enraged mob took the law into their own hands, resulting in the death of a young man identified as Yunusa, amidst allegations of blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad.

Eyewitnesses report that a heated argument between Yunusa and his friends led to the tragic incident, during which he allegedly made derogatory comments about the Prophet at a community in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Wednesday.

Despite growing pressure, Yunusa reportedly refused to back down, leading to physical attacks from the enraged crowd.

“The victim, a member of the Faira Islamic Sect, uttered insulting words towards the Prophet during the argument. When confronted by young men to withdraw his statement, he adamantly refused and reiterated his stance,” one witness recounted.

Efforts by police operatives to intervene and rescue Yunusa proved futile as they were overwhelmed by the angry mob armed with stones, sticks, and other makeshift weapons.

The situation took a dangerous turn when the crowd tried to set the local police station on fire after Yunusa was taken there for safety.

As of the time of this report, the police authorities have not made an official statement regarding the incident.

Following the unrest, local residents are still uneasy, waiting for further developments from law enforcement authorities.
