NABTEB releases 2024 Nov/Dec exam results, records 67.56% pass rate

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of its November/December 2024 certificate examinations, with 67.56% of candidates obtaining five credits and above, including English and Mathematics.
Acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Nnasia Asanga, announced the results on Monday in Benin City, revealing that a total of 44,226 candidates participated in the National Business Certificate/Advanced National Business Certificate (NBC/ANBC) and National Technical Certificate/Advanced National Technical Certificate (NTC/ANTC) examinations.
According to Asanga, 29,880 candidates met the benchmark for academic and career progression, representing 67.56%. Additionally, 95.94% of candidates secured five credits and above, whether or not they included English and Mathematics.
However, the 2024 results indicate a slight decline in performance compared to 2023, where 71.27% of candidates achieved five credits, including English and Mathematics.
“The performance in 2024 is lower than that of the 2023 results, where 71.27% of candidates met the same standard,” Asanga stated.
Despite this, he highlighted a slight increase in the overall number of candidates who obtained five credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics.
Decline in Examination Malpractice
NABTEB also reported a reduction in examination malpractice cases, dropping from 0.57% in 2023 to 0.53% in 2024. The board attributed this improvement to its continued efforts to maintain integrity in its assessments.
Candidates can check their results and obtain further details on the NABTEB website: www.nabteb.gov.ng.
Technical and Vocational Education Development
Dr. Asanga emphasized NABTEB’s role in promoting technical and vocational education, urging stakeholders to take advantage of its various qualification programs.
“NABTEB administers several important assessments, including the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for Technical Colleges, the National Skills Qualification (NSQ), and the Modular Trade Certificate (MTC), which equip candidates with practical competencies,” he stated.
To enhance accessibility, NABTEB has introduced electronic certificates (e-certificates) for candidates from 2017 to 2022.
Asanga also encouraged candidates to register for the upcoming May/June 2025 in-school examinations, reiterating that NABTEB qualifications offer dual benefits—career progression and academic advancement.
The Federal Ministry of Education has approved a transition from Federal Science and Technical Colleges (FSTCs) to Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) to align with modern workforce demands.
