PHOTOS: Heavy pedestrian traffic at Oshodi Bridge

Pedestrian movement surged on an alternative bridge in the Oshodi area of Lagos on Monday, March 3, following the closure of the main pedestrian bridge connecting Oshodi Bus Terminals 2 and 3.
The Lagos State Government had shut down the bridge in January, citing safety concerns over its structural integrity. Additionally, the government has been arresting individuals crossing highways at locations where pedestrian bridges are available.
These actions have led to increased pressure on the alternative bridge, with photos and videos of the congestion going viral. Many pedestrians expressed fears over safety, theft, and the bridge’s stability.
Some commuters pleaded with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to fast-track repairs on the main bridge to prevent potential accidents.
“This is a desperate call for help. One of our Oshodi bridges has been closed since last year due to dangerous shaking. Now, the remaining bridge is showing signs of instability. Something must be done urgently to ensure public safety,” a concerned user posted online.
Another commuter added, “Oshodi Isale has two pedestrian bridges. One is locked for safety reasons, and now the other is overcrowded with human traffic. The government must act swiftly before a major incident occurs.”
s of the time of this report, the Lagos State Government has yet to respond to the concerns raised by the public.
