Rivers Assembly gives Fubara 48-Hour ultimatum to sack commissioners, appointees

The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, a known ally of former Governor Nyesom Wike, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the removal of all commissioners in Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, the lawmakers also demanded the dismissal of other government appointees who were not screened by the Assembly.
Additionally, they directed Governor Fubara to submit a fresh list of nominees for appointment as commissioners within the same timeframe.
The directive further deepens the political crisis in the state, following the recent Supreme Court ruling that reinstated the Assembly members loyal to Wike.
