Truck kills female trader in Port Harcourt

A tragic accident occurred at the Oil Mill Market in Rumuokwurusi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, as a female trader lost her life after being crushed by a tipper carrying building materials.  

Eyewitnesses reported that the heavily loaded truck was descending from the Eleme Junction flyover when its brakes failed, leading to the fatal incident.

The victim was reportedly caught in the truck’s path and could not escape in time.

It was learned that the victim, whose name could not be ascertained at press time was trading on food items by the road side when the truck ran over her.

Another trader, Mrs. Uchechi, who was in trauma over the development said the woman was packaging food stuff for her customer when the truck took her life.

Uchechi said: “We were just in the market, she was selling market when the driver jammed her. She died there under the tyre of the tipper.”
