Katsina: Gov Radda delegates power to deputy for 1 month
Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has delegated his powers to Deputy Governor Malam Faruq Lawal-Jobe temporarily, citing a one-month medical leave.
The decision was disclosed during a collective assembly involving local government chairpersons, legislators, and executive officials in Katsina.
“I will be proceeding for my vacation and medical check-up from Thursday until August 18,” Governor Radda stated.
To ensure seamless governance, Governor Radda confirmed he has formally transferred authority to Deputy Governor Lawal-Jobe to act in his capacity during this period. He also mentioned that he had sent an official letter to the State Assembly, which approved his leave as per constitutional requirements.
Governor Radda urged all government officials and stakeholders to cooperate fully with the acting governor, ensuring that state operations continue smoothly in his absence.
“To the people of Katsina State, we thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to serve you,” he added.
During the meeting, Governor Radda also received the 2024 supplementary budget passed by the state assembly.
Elected as Katsina governor in the 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial election, Governor Radda, 54, previously served as the Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
