Nigeria’s secret police kill kidnapper of Rarara’s mother in Kano
Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) reportedly killed one kidnapper and arrested another involved in the abduction of the mother of renowned Hausa singer Dauda Rarara.
The incident occurred after a gunfight on Friday morning.
According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, a DSS source in Kano said the operation was executed in Makarfi Forest, Kaduna State, where the kidnappers were caught off guard while distributing the ransom they had collected.
The operatives seized the opportunity to act on the intelligence that had pinpointed the location of the kidnappers.
“The DSS operatives successfully subdued the criminals, killing one on the spot and apprehending another who is currently receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds,” the source stated. “The ransom of N26.5 million was also recovered during the operation.”
The source revealed that the operation was the result of meticulous intelligence work that led to the kidnappers’ hideout.
The surviving suspect, identified as Bature, is reportedly assisting the authorities by providing valuable information about their criminal activities.
“Both kidnappers, Hamisu and Bature, are identified as Fulanis,” the source added. “Bature is currently cooperating with the operatives and offering insights into their operations.”
