Kogi LG boss escapes from kidnappers’ den few hours after abduction
In a dramatic turn of events, Mr. Zacchaeus Dare-Michael, the caretaker chairman (CTC) of Kabba/Bunu local government area in Kogi State, has managed to escape from his kidnappers.
Dare-Michael was abducted on Friday by unidentified gunmen while traveling on the Kaba-Okene road. The assailants also seized some of his aides during the ambush.
Williams Ovye-Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi Police Command, confirmed the escape, stating, “I can confirm that the chairman successfully escaped from his kidnappers in the early hours of Saturday. This was confirmed by our Divisional Police Officer in Kabba.”
Ovye-Aya expressed relief and gratitude, noting, “It’s a miracle that the chairman is safe and has returned to his family in good health. We give thanks to God for this outcome.”
Despite the positive news, the police are still actively pursuing the kidnappers to bring them to justice and secure the release of the remaining captives.
A family friend, speaking anonymously, said, “I’ve heard that the chairman is back home, although I haven’t visited his family yet.”
