Chris Terfa, a humanitarian worker and the Executive Director of the Concerned Youth Development Initiative (CYDI), was reportedly murdered by unknown armed men in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.

The incident occurred over the weekend at Terfa’s office in the Logo community area of the town. According to reports, the assailants were allegedly led to Terfa by one of his staff members who identified him when they arrived at the premises.

An eyewitness from the neighborhood, speaking anonymously, stated that Terfa had been out of town for an extended period and had only recently returned to address official matters.

He said: “Nobody knew that he was around let alone being shot. It was the alarm that was raised that attracted neighbours but before anybody got there his killers had escaped.

“He was found in his pool of blood when people rushed to the office. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

“The information we got was that one of his staff led the assailants to the deceased who has been in Civil Society for a long time.”

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene were unsuccessful.
