Nigerian singer Chike recently turned heads with an unexpected gesture after an online critic attributed his success solely to a collaboration with the late singer Mohbad.

The incident, which played out on X (formerly known as Twitter), quickly became a hot topic.

It all began when Chike shared a preview of an unreleased song on his X account. In response, Daniel Omowonuola Lawal (@Hateofx), a critic on the platform, commented that Chike’s rise to fame was entirely due to his work with Mohbad, boldly stating, “Mohbad made you.”

Rather than letting the criticism slide, Chike responded pointedly, questioning Lawal’s own ability to find success on his terms.

Chike responded, “Your mother made you, but I hope you find someone to MAKE you coz I don’t see you doing it yourself. Jesus stays king (black love emoji).”

Undeterred, Lawal continued to assert that Mohbad was pivotal to Chike’s success, including his streaming numbers. Chike then shifted tactics, teasing Lawal and mentioning the possibility of a financial gift to aid him.

Chike wrote, “Now I doubt your mother even made you right. If she didn’t teach you manners, she should have taught you research. I for send you like 1M now, make hunger comot your eye make you see road but your account fit collapse. Let the good guy rest in peace.”

To the shock of many, he decided to gift Lawal N1 million, turning the exchange into a memorable moment of generosity.

Chike shared a screenshot of the transaction receipt on X, captioning it, “Hungry boy go and eat.”

Chike began his music career in 2015, participating in Project Fame, and later became the first runner-up on The Voice of Nigeria in 2016. He is currently signed to Brothers Records. Last December, he released “Egwu,” a chart-topping track featuring Mohbad.

This interaction highlights Chike’s willingness to engage with his audience and critics alike while demonstrating a generous spirit in addressing online confrontations. The singer’s act has sparked conversations about celebrity interactions with fans and critics on social media platforms.
