Yann Sommer, Switzerland’s goalkeeping star retires from International Football

Switzerland’s legendary goalkeeper Yann Sommer has officially hung up his gloves on the international stage, marking the end of a remarkable 12-year career.

Sommer made the deciding penalty save from France’s Kylian Mbappe in the Euro 2020 last 16 which sent his team into their first major quarter-final since 1954.

As he steps away from international football, Yann Sommer will be remembered as one of Switzerland’s greatest goalkeepers, having given his all for the national team for over a decade.
