Ex-Anambra Deputy Speaker, Harford Oseke slump, dies after routine exercise
Former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Harford Oseke, has passed away.
Oseke tragically died yesterday after collapsing during his exercise routine at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
He was pronounced dead shortly after, with his body being deposited at Apex Medical Centre in Awka.
Born in August 1960, Oseke hailed from Umuawulu in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. He was a law graduate and had recently completed his Ph.D. in Public Administration.
Beyond his academic accomplishments, Oseke was deeply involved in the freight forwarding industry in Port Harcourt and also engaged in the importation of fish feed into the country. His political career began with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), through which he contested for a seat in the House of Assembly during Peter Obi’s tenure. He later served as the Majority Leader and eventually became the Deputy Speaker.
Oseke also sought to represent Awka North and South Local Government Areas in the House of Representatives but was defeated by the late Right Honourable Anayo Nnebe.
A knight of St. Christopher, Oseke is survived by his wife and children.
