The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lauded the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, as a man of integrity and wisdom with an unwavering commitment to the rule of law.

Wike made these remarks during the public presentation of Justice Ariwoola’s autobiography, *Judging with Justice*, in Abuja on Thursday.

He emphasized that Justice Ariwoola’s legacy would be remembered in Nigeria’s history, highlighting his journey from the bar to the bench and ultimately to his role as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

He said, “This moment is not just a celebration of a book, but the celebration of a life lived in the service of justice, fairness, and equity.

“It is a testament to the extraordinary journey of a man who has not only interpreted the law but has also shaped its practice in Nigeria in ways that will resonate for generations to come.

“Over the years, he has rendered judgments that have not only affirmed the rule of law but have also safeguarded the principles of democracy and human rights in Nigeria.

“The Hon Justice’s journey as in this autobiography is one of dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment to the principles that define our legal system.

“In a country as diverse and dynamic as Nigeria, the judiciary plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance and ensuring that justice prevails.

“The role of the Chief Justice is not just to interpret the law but to uphold the integrity of the judiciary to ensure that the scale of justice remains balance”.

While acknowledging the immense contributions the outgoing CJN made to the judiciary and to the nation as a whole, Wike said Ariwoola is a man that has shaped legal thoughts in the country.

These contributions, he said, include spearheading the upward review of judges’ remuneration by 300 per cent, a move, he added, was aimed at ensuring the independence of the nation’s judiciary.

He said, “Chief Justice Ariwoola has significantly impacted the judiciary through his tireless efforts to enhance the welfare and working conditions of judges.

“His leadership was instrumental in the recent 300 per cent increase in judges’ salary. A landmark achievement that reflects his commitment at ensuring that the judiciary remains independent, resourceful and motivated.

“Furthermore, Chief Justice Ariwoola has tirelessly contributed to the provision of housing facilities to judges across various levels of the judiciary, including the recently approved residents for court of appeal justices, federal high court and FCT courts”.
