Nigerian music legend, Onyeka Onwenu to be buried today

Nigerian music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, affectionately known as the “Elegant Stallion,” is set to be laid to rest today, Friday 30th August, 2024 in Lagos.

Onwenu passed away on July 30, 2024, at Reddington Hospital in Ikeja following a collapse at an event honoring Dr. Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals. Her passing marks the end of an era for Nigerian music and entertainment.

She was 72 years old.

The funeral service, as announced by the family, will take place at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi, News360 Nigeria reports.

Also, a funeral flyer stated that the Service of Songs is scheduled for 10 -12 noon while the burial, 2-4pm.

Onyeka Onwenu was not only a gifted musician with numerous hits but also a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.

She is survived by her two sons.
