PDP suspends Sen. Dino Melaye over anti-party conduct
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has suspended Senator Dino Melaye due to accusations of anti-party conduct.
The suspension, effective immediately, was confirmed in a memo from the Ayetoro Gbede Ward 1 executive committee, dated September 12, 2024.
The suspension follows Melaye’s failure to attend a Disciplinary Committee meeting on August 20, 2024, where he was expected to address allegations against him.
The PDP deemed his absence a serious breach of party discipline and a sign of disrespect towards the party’s authority.
The party’s executive committee cited Article 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, which grants the committee the authority to impose disciplinary measures.
Earlier communications had detailed allegations against Melaye, including misuse of party funds and damaging statements about the party.
The PDP has called on its members to maintain party discipline and unity as it continues to work towards electoral success and effective governance.
