An 18-year-old student of Successfulville International Secondary School in Akwa Ibom State, Abasiakama Inyeneobong John, has become an internet sensation after scoring an impressive aggregate of 371 marks in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Abasiakama’s outstanding result, shared on Facebook by journalist Harrison Essien, revealed he scored a remarkable 98 in three core subjects, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics, and earned 77 in English Language.

Essien revealed that the performance shattered a 10-year-old JAMB record and is currently the second-highest score publicly known in the 2025 examination.

A 15-year-old student who scored 372 still holds the top spot.

According to Essien, academic brilliance runs in the young man’s family.

He disclosed that Abasiakama’s elder sister, Edima Inyeneobong John, also posted a remarkable 362 in this year’s UTME, while their younger brother, Abasietimfon Inyeneobong John, scored 358 in the 2024 exams.

Essien further noted that the bright teenager is the grandson of the late Mr. John Asuquo Udo, a retired principal from Akwa Ibom State.

Abasiakama, whose ambition is to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, has since drawn widespread commendation from Nigerians online.

Social media users celebrated both his achievement and his school, with many praising Successfulville International Secondary School for nurturing such academic excellence.

One user, Essienubong Moses Umo, said: “I give it to this school. My nephew attended this school and had passed his SSCE and UTME excellently.”

Aniekan Emmanuel Okon added: “Congratulations to the blessed family. God continue to protect and guide them.”

Cecilia Etukudo was equally impressed, writing: “See how he brought the school to the spotlight. Congratulations to him, his family, school, and the entire state.”

Another user, Etimbuk Dicta Udom, humorously lamented his English score, saying: “Why always English? This guy for score 390 if not for English.”

A well-wisher also suggested that if Abasiakama is open to attending a private university, the Mastercard Foundation at Pan Atlantic University could offer him a full scholarship.
