In a chilling turn of events, one of the medical students kidnapped in Benue State has reportedly managed to post a message on social media.

The student, whose name has not been disclosed for safety reasons, was among over 20 medical and dental students, including a House Officer, who were abducted by gunmen while en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.

The students, hailing from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were ambushed around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of Benue State.

The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident and noted that an investigation is currently underway.

The student posted on his social media page:

The post from the kidnapped student has sparked widespread concern and hope among fellow students, families, and the general public. It suggests that at least some of the victims may have temporarily eluded their captors and are seeking safety.

This development underscores the urgent need for heightened security and swift action to ensure the safe return of all the kidnapped students. The situation remains tense as authorities continue their efforts to locate and rescue the victims.
